Material preparation:
1) Toluene (or clean petrol), 50g; raw rubber, 8g, cut into small pieces, and dipped in toluene to form a kind of paste.
2) Unvulcanized prepreg of polyamide fiber cord fabric (can be purchased or procured from rubber production or shipboard guard manufacturing factory, or superseded by cord fabric for fabrication of automobile tyres), 3 pieces, of 50cm long and 15cm wide, adhered together with toluene (or petrol).
3) Iron plate used for vulcanization, of at least 50cm long, 15cm wide and 2–3 cm thick.
4) Jack, temperature meter, brush, backing cloth or paper.
Adhering: find out an area suitable for supporting the jack, capable of bearing the force which provides the vulcanizing plate with the pressure of 8-16 kg per square centimeter (if the plate is 50 cm long and 15 cm wide, the force will be 6–12 ton). Before remedy, it is necessary to discharge the air inside the guard, make the repaired area flat and tidy, abrade the repair area, apply adhesive paste evenly, put the said 3-in-one cord fabric to the broken area while keeping in line with the cord fiber and the breakage, press the area to form solid connection,
